ScotHot 2011 dates announced ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Source Local’ named as new themes
Scotland’s international hospitality, foodservice and tourism exhibition – ScotHot – has announced dates of 28 February – 2 March 2011 at the SECC Glasgow.
Amongst the many new initiatives being announced to the industry include a Sustainability Pavilion, a ‘Source Local’ Pavilion and a wine and spirits section branded On-Trade@ScotHot.
‘ScotHot 2011 will have even more interesting and invaluable content for our 8,000 professional and trade visitors,’ said Exhibition Director, George Tsangari. ‘Traditional favourites such as the Scottish Culinary Championships and the World Culinary Grand Prix will be joined by these new sections that will provide hoteliers, restaurateurs and caterers with new profit opportunities.’
Green and Sustainability will be a key feature for the 2011 show and will run through out the show and a Sustainability Pavilion will be showcased within the show. The seminar area/ workshop area will host sustainability conferences as well as allow demonstrations of sustainable products.
Small companies with a turnover of less than £100k and no more than 5 employees will be eligible to join the Source Local Pavilion. A competition, leading up to the show, to award “The Small Scottish Producer of Year” will be open only to exhibitors within the Source Local Pavilion.
Research by ScotHot organisers, SITE, highlighted that a high percentage of visitors to the show are looking to find not only new and exciting products but also want to source products locally.
On-Trade@ScotHot will bring a wide range of wine, beers and spirits to the show. Over a third of ScotHot 2009’s visitors were looking to increase their business’ profits through sales of alcohol. On-Trade will not only include commercial stands but also a pro-active tasting area.
‘ScotHot is the face of the foodservice and hospitality industry in Scotland and the North West, it is important that the show addresses all the key issues. With plenty more initiatives yet to be announced, we feel that the 2011 show will be the best ever,’ says George Tsangari.
